Widebodies are only getting bigger engines as the likes of Boeing and Airbus work to develop aircraft that cannot just carry more, but also fly further and more efficiently than those that came before them. Take the 777X, currently in the final stages of the regulatory certification process. The massive jetliner boasts the largest jet engines ever produced for a commercial aircraft and is indeed set to boast incredible efficiency against predecessors.
