Netherlands plans Saab GlobalEye purchase

The Netherlands has signed a letter of intent with Sweden to acquire a Saab GlobalEye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft, marking a step toward strengthening the country’s air and maritime surveillance capabilities.

The agreement is not yet a contract, and Saab has not received an order from the Dutch government. The Swedish defence company said it is awaiting the next steps in the procurement process.

Saab Chief Executive Micael Johansson said the planned acquisition would improve the Netherlands’ ability to detect and respond to threats while strengthening NATO’s collective defence capabilities.
