The US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has today taken action to ground Iran’s aviation sector. It goes well beyond just Mahan Air. The action involves 36 targets with connections to aviation. The Treasury says that this sector has been used to move “weapons, personnel, and illicit cargo.”
